Keeping in touch during this difficult time is of great importance to the WPCA and as well as a regular news sheet the Club has been putting on talks for members using Zoom. The latest talk was last Tuesday when Jeremy Prescott a retired Army officer “visited” the Club online and gave a fascinating talk on the history of the Victoria Cross. The talk covered the involvement of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in the introduction of the highest award for gallantry through to the present time with stories behind the awards. After the talk members were able to ask questions and although different to live talks everyone agreed it was an excellent evening. Jeremy will be returning in March to give another talk on the Sinking of the Laconia.
Back on their boats it has been difficult for some members to carry out maintenance under the current restrictions and it is hoped that everyone will be ready for the new season. The Club Cruising Officer, Chris Reid, has put together an interesting programme including long and short cruises throughout the season.
