Echo 2 November

Castle Cove Sailing Club was packed with WPCA members last Tuesday for a talk by Club members, Chris and Tess Reid, who last summer joined a Hallberg Rassey rally to Holland in their boat, Monterey. Following straight on from the Club’s Channel Islands cruise Chris and Tess joined up with the rest of the British boats in Eastbourne for the crossing to Europe. By the time they reached Holland the rally numbers had increased to 66 with boats from Belgium, Germany and Holland joining them. On completion of the rally boats headed in different directions and Chris and Tess did some more exploring in Holland, Belgium and France. Their talk generated a lot of interest in cruising further afield and they are hoping some Club members will join them next summer for their extended trip to Southern Brittany and La Rochelle.

With no talk for next week the Club will meet as usual for a social evening and the following Tuesday John Atkinson will be talking about the National Coastwatch Institution. John is based at Portland Bill and has several years’ experience as a watchkeeper so will have plenty of stories to tell.
