Echo 12 April

The first day cruise of the year for WPCA was due to be held last Wednesday but with the forecast for gale force winds it was decided to rearrange for the Sunday before. Only two boats, Iona and Monterey, ventured out but they enjoyed a couple of hours sailing in a good wind around the Bay. Club President, Tess Reid, said “We had lovely conditions for a shakedown sail”. It was also a good opportunity for Monterey to check everything was working after the winter before they lead the Club cruise to the Isle of Wight this weekend. Despite the unpredictable weather four boats signed up to take part leaving on different days but all planning to be in East Cowes for Saturday evening when the crews will meet for an evening meal.

Back ashore while the wind and rain deterred some members from coming out on Tuesday evening those that did had a very sociable evening including a competitive game of Rummikub.

While most Club members are waiting for warmer weather Alison Stephens and Chris Forrest have returned to their boat, Muskrat, in Greece where they are preparing to spend the summer exploring the Greek Islands. Alison said “the weather was glorious, bright sunshine and 20’c and we are looking forward to launching the boat next week”.
