Dorset Echo Friday 26 August

The weather broke last Tuesday and forced the cancellation of the Club’s picnic sail. With little or no wind and rain it was decided that a picnic on the beach after a wet sail to Worbarrow Bay would not make for a very pleasant day. It is hoped to reschedule but in the meantime Mike and Chris Hill with crew Dave in Aquilo made for Lulworth the following day and John and Jane Atkinson in Eleanor took advantage of better weather on Saturday and went to Worbarrow Bay. Nick and Tracie Critchell in their motor yacht Mojito enjoyed a few days in Guernsey and were joined by Chris and Alison Bell in La Sorciere after they stopped off in Dartmouth, although lack of wind again meant Alison and Chris had to motorsail most of the way.

Meanwhile back in Weymouth Monterey, Stella and Iona have been spotted enjoying sails in Weymouth Bay anchoring in Ringstead Bay, Portland Harbour and off Weymouth Beach for lunch and swimming. Iona were anchoring off Castle Cove Sailing Club when a fleet of Laser 2000s appeared over the horizon and they were surrounded with dinghies returning to the Club after a day’s racing.
