The Weymouth and Portland Cruising Association is one of the most active sailing groups in the Weymouth & Portland area. We have a wide range of sailing skills from beginners owning their first boat and people new to sailing, who wish to gain experience crewing, to solo transatlantic sailors.
We meet almost every Tuesday at the Weymouth Angling Society [WAS] on Commercial Road, and through the winter we have talks on three Tuesdays of the month, which are very popular. Topics include local history and geography, sailing tips and yarns, When we don't have a talk, we meet anyway! There is an extensive summer cruising programme with local day cruises as well as longer adventures to the West Country, the Solent, Ireland, France, and Spain.
We have a very pleasant crowd of people, and virtually no property. Our fleet lists nearly sixty boats, from hardy day sailers to heavy cruisers, with a few fast fliers in between. And the number of motor-cruisers is steadily increasing. There are swinging moorings in Portland Harbour for members' use.
