SINKING OF THE LACONIA

To all WPCA members

Tuesday 16th March 7.30pm for 8.00 pm

ZOOM TALK ON THE SINKING OF THE LACONIA

Following his very successful talk last month on the history of the Victoria Cross, we have another talk from Jeremy Prescott, this time it is a story of rescue, double jeopardy and survival.

THE SINKING OF THE LACONIA
The sinking of a British troop ship in 1942, 700 miles off the West Coast of Africa, by a German U Boat, the rescue of some of the survivors, which included many families and children by the same U boat, the bombing of that U boat by an American bomber based in the Ascension Islands, the reaction of the U Boat crew, the remarkable 27 day journey made by some of the survivors in lifeboats now cast off by the U boat to the West coast of Africa.

Jeremy Prescott is founder of Sacrifice and Remembrance, an organisation set up to support communities in their commemoration of WWI. Through his talks, Jeremy raises funds for the charity Combat Stress. We do hope you will be able to join us and listen to what should be a fascinating talk.
A link will be sent out a day or two before the talk-as usual, you will be able to join the Zoom meeting from 7.30 with the talk starting at 8.00
